A Rare Night Off!
As parents, uninterrupted nights out are about as common as finding a matching pair of socks in a toddler’s laundry pile. Don’t get me wrong—I love my kids—but sometimes, I need to switch off ‘constant vigilance’ mode. Honestly, I’m convinced motherhood is just a permanent state of fight, flight, or utter shock!
Our rare evening of freedom began with dinner (or “tea” if you’re from the North!). We stumbled upon The Fez, a cozy Italian restaurant, and were pleasantly surprised—definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area! Check out our tiktok… “pizza and wine!“
Adding a little twist to our date night, I’d decided to bring my parents along—mostly because my dad is a massive classical music buff. His love for classical music, and constant piano playing when I was a child, gave me an appreciation for it too. So, after a quick pit stop to pick up the folks, we headed into the heart of Liverpool for the Eonarium experience. And for once—zero mum guilt! Who else struggles with that? 🙋♀️

Swapping Bedtime Battles for Baroque Brilliance
Usually, at 6:30 pm on a Sunday, we’d be knee-deep in bath time, tidying dinner plates, and prepping for another chaotic week of school, work, and nursery drop-offs. Blah blah blah…
We were about to experience Vivaldi’s Four Seasons in Lights, and I was ridiculously excited. I’d never seen anything like this before—an immersive blend of music, lights, and vibrations that completely takes over your senses.
But tonight? We were dressed in real clothes—ones not covered in toddler snot or half-chewed snacks—and standing outside St George’s Hall, one of the most breath-taking buildings in the UK. And, in my completely unbiased opinion, in the best city in the world. 😏
If you’ve never been to St George’s Hall, it’s a neoclassical masterpiece that has stood proudly in Liverpool since 1854. Walking into the Great Hall is breath taking—it’s impossible to do it justice in words.
- The room is lined with intricate archways, engravings, and statues.
- At one end stands the massive Willis Organ, which was once the largest in the country! Fun fact: my dad actually played this organ as part of his music program when he was younger.
The floor is made up of over 30,000 encaustic tiles, but it’s usually covered up. Sadly, there are no floor reveal dates for 2025 yet—but if there are, I’m there!

Vivaldi’s Four Seasons in Lights – A Sensory Delight
The Eonarium show mapped out the ceiling, creating a mesmerizing sound and light display. The combination of visuals and music was nothing short of magical—I felt the vibrations right to my core. Highly recommend!
And sharing this experience with three of my favourite people? Priceless. I expected my dad to love it, but the real shocker? David was really into it. I think we’ve uncovered a secret classical music fan!

Parents Need This More Often!
Heading home, I realized just how much I needed this break. It was a reminder that it’s okay to take time for yourself and reconnect with your partner. And honestly? I think I’ve outgrown the standard “out for a bevy” nights—I’m fully embracing my cultural era.
If you’ve made it this far in my post, take this as your sign to book that date night! And why not try something different? You might just love it.
The cherry on top? The kids were at their other Nanny’s, and we had a rare lie-in waiting for us the next morning. Honestly, it felt like an early birthday present—I don’t even remember the last time we slept in. And you bet we made the most of it!
